Welding Training Academy and Open Day

Date:  Saturday 1st July

Time:  From 10.00am to 1.00pm

Location: Hutchinson Engineering Ltd, 58a Drumagarner Road, Kilrea

Target Audience:  We would like to invite your students past or present who may have an interest in learning a skill or trade.  At our Open Day they will have the opportunity to speak to our experienced welders, have a go at welding and see for themselves our state of the art facilities in Kilrea.

Aim of programme:  The aim of the Welding Training Academy is to address the skills shortage many companies are facing at present regarding the recruitment of Welders or Fabricators.

Your school leavers (aged 16-18) may not have an interest in progressing down the route of academic qualifications so therefore we are offering a unique opportunity to join our company and learn on the job.

Structure of programme:  The programme will take a two pronged approach – both learning on the job in partnership with Teach Weld NI and for those interested in NVQ qualification, working in partnership with NRC.

Timeframe:  We will provide 4-6 months training with employment confirmed if all performance milestones are achieved.  Qualification in partnership with NRC will have a longer duration.

Assessment method:  Dependent on number of applicants to the academy, we will interview and carry out assessments to identify the best candidates to join our Academy which will commence in September 2017.

Criteria:  Applicants should be 16 years or older and demonstrate a genuine interest in manufacturing/engineering.  Good aptitude with basic numeracy and literacy and IT proficient.
